Reinhilde van Tiel - 1972
From 1990 until 1991 she studied at the Royal Academy for Arts at 's-Hertogenbosch. Later she studied at the technical school for Fashion and Design in Utrecht where she graduated in 1995. In 2005 she participated in a one year course model and portret painting at Artibus centre for Art and Design in Utrecht. During this course she experienced the fantastic feeling of getting lost in painting. However, she felt painting models and portrets was not her cup of tea.

From an early age Reinhilde has loved the work of the CoBrA group, aswel as the filosofy the group stood for. The way the CoBrA artists worked inspires her a great deal.

"At first I put all kind of colours on the canvas. Doing so, I try to stay close to what my feelings and emotions tell me, in stead of thinking rationally. After that I try to get order out of the chaos, by creating an image looking at all these colours. Most of the time I do not know what will come out. The result is often a surprise, but that's part of the fun and that's why I love it so much!
I get my inspiration from the way people communicate with eachother. I also get a lot of inspiration from the way I experience the world. With my paintings I try to tell my story in a humouristic way.
When I think a painting is still nice to look at, after a couple of weeks, then it is truly finished".
